We SuRviVeD IreNe

Thanks to all my friends who wished us well.....
We survived hurricane Irene and although we were trapped in our hotel room after 10pm with no air con or elevators.. just too many steps from the 37th floor... we did see another side to New York city that not many people / visitors get to see.
New York city streets with ....NO people....NO cars.... No cabs....!!!!!
Absolutely NoNe ... before Irene hit !

New York... the city that NeVeR sleeps...took a 24 hour NaP... ~

We did get out sightseeing today and I managed to purchase a couple of souveniers.....

And we were also in Boston Mass, when....
So this was also added to my wardrobe....lol !

We walked about 10 klms today as the subways were not operating. We hit the pavement and covered lots of the tourist spots with little congestion. By this afternoon though the streets were getting back to normal. We hope the transportation system is up and running tomorrow as my poor feet won't be able to do the same again!  AND, I want to do some ShOppInG !!
Anyways, the World Police and Fire Games (which hubby is playing in) has also had to postpone some events.. so tomorrow we hope to hear more from them too.
The opening ceremony went ahead last Friday (pre Irene) and it was just fantastic.

Fingers crossed that all will be back to normal in the morning... xx

Get Lost IReNe

Hello from  New York!
We arrived here on Thursday and all was great.... then this darn hurrican "Irene" decided to head on up here too... now the subway is shut down... the shops are all shut... the roads are eerily quiet... and our broadway show "The Jersey Boys" has been cancelled...  awwwww!
Anyways, we are SAFE so far... hold up tight in our hotel room on the 37th floor... yep I said the 37th floor!  Now please understand that I'm NOT happy about being up so high.. and although the view from our room is sensational.. I just don't want to think about it when the winds hit us!
Fingers crossed xxx... and I'll keep in touch.

LaSt Of the WonDerLanDs

Well.. unfortunately these few pic's are the last of the wonderful craft and fabric shops I've been to in Canada. This one is located near me here in Saint John, NB, on Hampton Road.
I purchased quite a few patterns from this little treasure trove. I could have bought LoTs more... sigh... but I'm happy with what I DiD get... yippee !

Also.... I thought I'd show you what hubby received from one of his brothers for his birthday in July. You see hubby is a MaD Chicago Black Hawks fan (has been for 40 years).. so this was THE peRfEcT gift for him. There is also a bit of a rivalary between the two of them in Ice Hockey... giggle... and Chicago was the last team (between the teams each brother follows) to win the Stanley Cup.... so hubby has bragging rights!
This is a BBQ cover.

(Neither of their teams won this year... so hubby still owns the RiGhTs... lol!

We are off to New York tomorrow... so I'll keep you posted on what I've been up to in a week or so!

This quilt was just beautiful...
I wish I had taken a closer pic for you to see the detail...  : (

 Onto another treasure trove........
I made a new friend and follower, Diane, the owner of this little shop tucked away at 334 York Street Fredericton, NB...  called "Country Crafts & Curtains".
Look at these cute fellas..it's a triple hanger project.
One more shop, a little later....

FaBriC & XmaS ShoPs... WoW

I tricked, bribed, convinced, politely asked my hubby to stop at a few craft shops while driving around this beautiful country. Of course he had a good book to read in the car... and there was always a "Tim Hortons" coffee nearby... so he was happy for me to get my FiX of fabric, patterns and ideas inside these little worlds of wonder.
I managed to pick up a few things.... dam the weight restrictions on airlines... so I hope to have even more Canadian influence in my home when I get to make some of them. I'll show you what I purchased when I get them out again in Aus.
Anyways.. I have been VeRy GooD... as there have only been a FeW shops!
AND ... unfortunately hubby finished his book....darn it!  lol !

I'll just show you ONE this time... just to whet the appetite.... so please come back to enjoy MoRe eYe CaNdY....
We have also found 2 Christmas shops... and for anyone who knows ME.. that's like finding HeAVeN !
The first was in Halifax. NS.

And the other one was in Montreal,Quebec.
