OnLy SmaLL ProJecTs

I recently purchased a few patterns and used one of them this week to make a small chrissy item.

The pattern is very quick and easy... although I added applique instead of embroidery for an even faster finish... but I just wanted to actually see the size and dimensions of it. I'm a visual person! I will alter the neck of the stocking (on my template) a little so it sits flatter but other than that I'm happy with the end result.
Lately we have been in and out most days, spending quite a few days away from our home too, so I wondered how my little "Butcher Bird" friend would cope without me. I hoped he would remember me... well good news is... he did and he's here every day for a free feed. His mate was caught by a cat a few weeks back so I'm actually "watching" to see his NEW mate some time soon.
You probably recognise him as my comment profile pic.
The butcher bird songs are just beautiful... they can mimic any other bird and he loves to throw his head back and sing when it rains for some reason. They are very acrobatic and can pick meat up in mid air, at speed, without missing a flap of it's wings! I just love to watch them. Each season we see a baby for awhile, which stays timid until it gets to know me... but then off it fly's to start a family of its own. That's nature I guess!
And forwarded from my good FriEnD Shez...
Look at this fantastic picture and story. It's sad but truly wonderful at the same time!

And lastly... as I haven't known what to start on (a hang over of being so busy lately, I think)... I have just been fiddling about upstairs, playing really, and so don't have a lot to show of any of my UFO's.
I must make a determined effort to "get back into the swing" and actually achieve a FINISH... so perhaps tonight's the night. Lots of SPORT on tonight to keep hubby happy!
But I did whip together this little cutie as a xmas "tuck-in" gift for someone.

well... I think it's cute...

Love the little Bare Root stocking pattern. Enjoy a little down time until you get your wind back. Browse some magazines, pet your fabric, reorganize a drawer.

I am certainly a big fan of Bareroots designs. Gorgeous little stockings. Shez's story is so beautiful and really sad too. He made his own memorial in a way.

Darling little stocking! And I really like the little hanger at the bottom of your post.
Sweet pic of the bird, how sad he lost his mate...I hope he finds a new one. That picture of the bicycle is amazing, and so sad...

So many different things to read about in your post Cheryl, its great. Those stockings are so nice, I think I may have that pattern somewhere in my collection. The butcher bird looks very happy, its so nice to have birds in your backyard. The bike, just wonderful to see it growing with the tree. How special for the young boy, whom it belonged to, to be remembered in this way. The little cushion is adorable. Well done with everything.
