MakinG a TaGGie

I know TaGGieS have been around for awhile... but they are just sooo much FuN to make. I had a PinK gift bag ready with a singlet and a toy inside... so I'll add this to the bag too... all ready for a special little girl!
Bubs LoVe to play with the tags on toys, clothing or anything really... so this little Taggie Toy was invented to have ALL the tags in one place!
In case you have a need or a reason to make one... here is how I...
MaKe a TaGGie...

First, gather some fabric and some ribbons. I used flannel both front and back but you could use cotton fabric with the same lovely results. Pick out a variety of ribbon in different widths and colours. You can add as many tags as you like ... but I usually add about 4 or 5 to each side.

Cut front fabric into a 10in x12in rectangle. Cut the back to the same size.
Cut the selection of ribbons to 4.5inch in length.
Pin the ribbons in place in a pleasing colour arrangement... leaving the corners free... matching raw edges together, with the ribbon on the RIGHT side of the fabric, with the loop of ribbon to the inside.  See pic below.

Stitch a 1/4 inch seam completely around the edge of fabric, catching the ribbon to hold. Make sure you keep the ribbon square on the edge of fabric. Remove pins as you go.

Pin the front and back together, with right side facing, making sure the ribbons are on the inside and not caught up.

Sew together using a 1/2 in seam around all 4 sides... leaving a 2 inch gap open, for turning.

Clip the corners...
Turn right side out... thru the opening.

Using my trusty corner pusher... I made the corners square...

Gently pull out ribbons and press. Pin the gap opening closed...neatly

Top stitch 1/4 inch completely around the taggie edge... pulling the ribbons out slightly. This will also stitch the opening closed.

Admire your cute and useful baby toy... the TaGGie!

Added to the PINK bag... all ready to go!

What a cute, simple idea Cheryll. Do you use any pellon?

No I don't use anything inside. It's really not necessary... as it's the TaGs the bubs like to play with!

I think I saw one on your blog before Cheryll,(or maybe some other one), I made a couple for new Mums at that time and they were something new to them at the time. They are fun to make, I love the colours you have used, what little one wouldn't like to play with it. Cheers.
