The bottom row had "trams" added & then sewn together...
AND...
most of the large middle section was sewn as well...
with LoTs of cutting of 2 1/2 inch fabric squares...
and h-e-a-p-s MoRe sewing...

The "boys" 36 inch charity quilt was quilted... in a simple free motion loops design using variegated thread... but I think it looks OK . The binding was added so another FiNiSH ✅.

Lots of string blocks were added to the pile this week.
I used the last of the " green " scrap backing... & the rest of the " blue" backing ...
Luckily... I had more scrap backing to use up so I cut the last two in black... 😁
I decided on the layout of blocks... to check out the backing placement really... & as it looks great I'll start on the joining process asap.

I found some left over "tumbler" blocks that were given to me about 10 years ago.
Over time I used some of the colours... so I had to improvise with what was left.
Anyways, I started sewing the tumblers together... & added a border to make it to size. I've added some applique to add some interest too... more later...
And I thought I'd show what I use to mark my rows.
Quilting pins with an alphabet letter slid onto it... simple but effective... & the letters are available from any discount store.

heaps going on at your place, I just love the Once Upon a Time quilt and your applique is so good. Great to see your tumblers out to play and some lovely quilting... I love loops - they always look great..... thanks for the alphabet markers... much nicer to use safety pins rather than spikey ones... I have to do a hunting gathering so will pop in and see if I can get some (they do counts as essential supplies don't they???)

The pins are a neat idea.
Your GD's quilt seems to be growing well - it's gorgeous; all that sewing will be so worth it. Great work on the boy's baby quilt too. That's a great hint about the small 'beads' on the safety pins. Lots of beautiful sewing.
