... in my cubbyhole this week was very productive once again ...
I'm trying to clear out some projects because of space... common story 😜
so I free motion quilted my charity scrappy Wonky Hexie Quilt.
This flimsy was originally going to the guild to complete but I was gifted the backing fabric so I finished it myself... & I'm Very HaPPy with the outcome too.
For the quilting, I used a delicious orange thread so it shows beautifully on the black backing fabric ... YuMMy

I used a simple kitchen tool, some left over crochet threads, a bead & a tassel...
and MaDe these 10 cords lengths...They'll be used on scissor or cutter fobs, pin cushion hangers, needle cases etc...
& they can be cut & knotted to any length that's required.

My GD2 needed a library bag for the start of her school year in 2021...
She's very excited to be starting kindergarten in January too...

The wonky hexies look good, and the quilting is lovely.
Very inventive use of kitchen beaters!
I have NO idea why I don't use my mixer when making cord. Thanks for the reminder!
Wonky hexies look fab! I was wondering about the kitchen tool lol! They will be lovely.
Very cute library bags xx
Hi Cheryl, I'm so glad that you linked up at Free Motion Mavericks! I love that wonky hexie quilt (I love anything wonky and hexies!!!) That is a very cool idea. So, what's with the beater? I'm assuming that you used it somehow to braid...no, I don't get it! :-) Your grand-daughter is all ready for school with her lovely book bag. Take care.
Now I am going to need a tutorial on how to make cords with a mixer. Very happy and bright library bag. A lovely finish.
The Wonky Henie Quilt is lovely and a beautiful job of quilting......
Like Karen I too need a tut on how to use my beater to make cord ?
Sophie will love her pretty library bag.
You did have some productive time in the sewing room. Well done. That mixing technique sounds very interesting.

The quilting goes so well on the quilt and I love the clever method you used to create the cords. Sophie will be all set for next year. Isn’t she lucky to have a clever nanna.
