SiMpLe ShoE BaG

One Xmas Item A Month with Narelle.
Thanks once again Narelle for your effort.

I fulfilled this months commitment by making another 2 shoe bags. These are for a young woman who will just LoVe these shoes! A PerFecT place for her to keep 2 pairs of high heels when travelling.
Now they're packed away safely until December!

A few bloggy friends have asked me how I make them (as I've shown some in the past) so I thought I would write a tutorial for anyone interested in making a
SIMPLE SHOE BAG.

Pick out some fabric and cut it at 26in wide by 21in tall... then fold it in half... or alternately cut 2 pieces 13in x 21in.

Trace a pair of shoes, or a single shoe, or the letters BAG, in reverse, onto some fusible web. Also trace some embellishments like flowers, bows or whatever you would like on YOUR shoes.
These shoes are from a pattern I own, but if you don't have a pattern just print a shoe off the internet. There are lots of FREE pic's available.
Iron tracing onto the wrong side of contrasting fabric.
Cut out following the lines.
Do the same thing for your shoe embellishments.

TIP
Choose any design/ words you like, but size the design to cover approximately a 5-6 inch square.
Remove the backing paper and place the shoe or shoes approximately 2in ~3in up from the bottom of the fabric and in the centre of the front.
Iron on.
Add embellishments where desired.
Iron them on too.

Choose a fancy decorative stitch or use a blanket stitch like I did to finish raw edges around shoe/s and flower/s.

Now you are ready to MAKE the BAG...
With right sides together sew bag base and side seam using 1/4 in seam. I overlocked the seams but you can just use pinking shears or stitch a double seam to neaten.
Fold down 2inch at top and iron... then fold down another 2 inches and stitch down close to the lower edge.
Then top stitch approximately 1in down from the top to form a tube.
Open up side seam slightly in the middle of the tube just stitched and insert a length of cord. Thread completely around and out again and knot to secure. Top stitch near opening to hold.
Add some BLinG to the shoes... and viola!... all finished!

The second bag...

Another "SHOE" idea.
