This time on Something New On Wednesday ...
I'm using a HRT ruler set.
HALF RECTANGLE TRIANGLE.
I have made HRT's before but I haven't used a special ruler to trim them.
This set gives both directional seam lines too & a cutting guide as well.
I picked this ruler up at a Buy, Sell & Swap & wondered IF using it was worth it.
Well now I have my answer...
The ruler set gives you accurate sizes for fabric requirements, cutting of unfinished sizes, then finished sizes in 14 sizes &
a template for trimming in both directions too.
It's from BLOCK LOC & I'm not sure of cost BuT as mine was at a discounted price... I felt like I should give it a go.
I actually printed out more sizes for preparing HRT from another site.
3. Flip fabric pieces (i.e. one of each) & stitch along length.
4. Trim to size using LOC ruler... I chose the "B" ruler.
Very easy...You can decide HoW YOU use these blocks too...
by facing them in the same direction... OR... turned around forming a ribbon...
OR... perhaps in a border with another block ???
I also found these different quilt layouts... courtesy of Pinterest...
BuT you'll have to wait to see what I have chosen... 😘
I think these rulers will make it easy to make accurate HRT...
& from this first use, I'm very happy I bought them.✅

The ruler helps make an interesting block!
I've heard good things about those rulers...

I've got my eye out for an HRT ruler myself. I've got the Tri-Recs ruler and the V-block ruler but they only go to 6". What if I want bigger HRT blocks? Hahaha! Great post, Cheryll, and I'm glad you got a deal on the ruler! More money for fabric!!!
I was interested to read this review, as I haven’t tried HRT blocks and was wondering which ruler would be the best, as I find trimming some blocks makes thing so much more accurate. I’m looking forward to seeing what you create.
