Week 3... SoCiaLLy DiSTanCinG

We are all in the same boat... distanced from family & friends trying to keep our spirits up. My cubbyhole is a saviour for me... &... as I have lots of projects on the go... I'm keeping a busy mind.
As for the body... well... the house has never been soooo clean... lol

* * * * *
I finished the quilting on the "soccer" themed tumbler block child's quilt.
Yeah... another finish for April...  ✅
* * * * *
I also finished the "string" charity quilt which measures 40in x 60in.
This was made using the quick & easy quilt-as-you-go method...
& fabric scraps & backing remnants... except for the NeW batting.
Another finish for the month...✅

After a marathon sewing session... I packed up & sent my Once Upon A Time  quilt to Julie to work her magic on... more later...

The RSC 2020 colour in April is light BLUE  ...& so here is my chain link block...

I also stitched one in MiD BLuEs as well...

My item for the 1 Xmas Item a Month group is a set of four Picnic Pals...

This pattern is Daisy Dreams Lapkin by Dawn Hay & is from the 2015 retreat of  Lets Get Stitched .
I finally got around to making 4 & they will be a gift in December.

After FNwF

I traced out this design awhile ago... but last night I actually made progress.
This is the last block of embroidery needed for my GDO quilt.

I also cleaned up the top shelf of fabric... re-organising and folding.
One shelf down... but I still have a few more shelves to go...
Arrhhh... it's so much easier to look through the smaller stash now...

How did you go at FNwF  last night ?
Even though we were all socially distancing I enjoyed your company.
I'll be over soon for another virtual visit...

WeeK 2... SoCiaLLy DisTanCinG

Worked on my GD Once Upon A Time quilt.
The bottom row had "trams" added & then sewn together...
AND...
most of the large middle section was sewn as well...
with LoTs of cutting of 2 1/2 inch fabric squares...
and  h-e-a-p-s  MoRe sewing...
<< - 0 - >>

The "boys" 36 inch charity quilt was quilted... in a simple free motion loops design using variegated thread... but I think it looks OK . The binding was added so another FiNiSH ✅.
<<  - 0 - >>

Lots of string blocks were added to the pile this week.
I used the last of the " green " scrap backing... & the rest of the " blue" backing ...
Luckily... I had more scrap backing to use up so I cut the last two in black... 😁
I decided on the layout of blocks... to check out the backing placement really... & as it looks great I'll start on the joining process asap.
<< -o- >>

I found some left over "tumbler" blocks that were given to me about 10 years ago.
Over time I used some of the colours... so I had to improvise with what was left.
Anyways, I started sewing the tumblers together... & added a border to make it to size. I've added some applique to add some interest too... more later...

And I thought I'd show what I use to mark my rows.
Quilting pins with an alphabet letter slid onto it... simple but effective... & the letters are available from any discount store.

WOOFA ufo #4... &... FNwF

Once Upon A Time... Miss Sophie's quilt... needs to be completed this month... Yikes... it's actually her BiRTHDaY MonTH... so I'm cutting it a little close ...
I better get a move on...

Have you chosen your challenge project this month?
The One & Only good thing about social distancing & staying home is... we get more time to SeW...

* * * * *

It's Time...
to sign up for our on-line socially distanced get together called...
Simply add your blog address to the link below & EnJoY a night with friends.
At this particular time in all communities it's very important that we keep in contact.
It's good for our souls AND more importantly our mental health...
So with this in mind I think we should have
FNwF on the 1st & 2nd Fridays each month
until this virus is eradicated.
And visit Wendy HeRe for FNSI on 3rd Friday monthly.

So... I hope I'll see you on Friday night... April 3rd & then again on April 10th.

WooFa in MarCH

Another finish... & I'm so blooming happy 👵...
My BLooM quilt has been quilted by Julie... returned to me... had the binding added & the label too... so I've completed a challenge for March ... yippee...
.
I LoVe this quilt & I'm so happy with Julie's choice as it sets the quilt off beautifully.
Even the backing is delicious ... I'm just SO happy with every aspect of this quilt...
BLooM measures 86 inch square... & will stay in my home.

I'll get better pic's outside, once the rain has stopped & the sun is out.
Julie quilted "leaves" on the quilt... & it's the PeRFecT choice.
Thanks again Julie... xox

WeeK 1... In the CuBByHoLe

As we are all at home social distancing from "friends"... I plan on being productive... so, this week I worked on several projects...
A Charity quilt...
The scrap blocks were taken to the recent retreat & partially sewn together.
As the flimsy has now been finished... it will go to the guild to be quilted & bound.
This flannel quilt will measure 42in x 63in.

Once Upon A Time...
Some "tramming" was added to a few blocks in my GD's quilt.
Then the top 3 blocks were joined together & I must say I'm very happy so far.

P.I.C.U quilt...
After pinning this cot quilt at FNSI... I quilted & added the binding to finish it off.
This scrappy flannel quilt measures 24in x 30in.

String Blocks...
I used light colours scrap strips & made  8  of 24 blocks.
This "charity" quilt will probably be more suitable for a female.

A Flimsy...
I cut 16 of  91/2 inch squares in 3 colours from my kids "FaT 1/4" tub.
Easy peasy stitching &... viola... another 36 inch PICU quilt top is ready for sandwiching & quilting. I'll work on finishing this one next week...

I hope you've had a creative "socially distanced" week as well...

When my Canadian Sister-in-laws visited recently... they loved the ELF cushion... so I said I would make them one each. Well... now it's one down with one to go.
JoLLy will have several brothers around the globe one day...

Thanks Narelle...  the year 2020 is going well thanks to your encouragement.

AT FNSI

I added the feet & the final few hand stitches to finish my PoPPinS bag.
It's large, roomy, with an outside pocket & handles that fit over the shoulder.
I purchased the pattern...HeRe... & it's called Aunties Two Patterns Poppins Bag.
I'm really HaPPy with how this turned out...👍

I also sandwiched a P.I.C.U quilt ready for quilting...

And then I cut a few 21/2 inch squares for my Once Upon a Time quilt...

So THANK YOU Wendy for having me over for FNSI.
I hope everyone else had a great night too.
