This is the best mail... snail mail... especially when it delivers these beauties!
I received an early birthday gift and the other a giveaway win. How lucky am I.
I am looking forward to making the quilt (maple leaf pattern) as it brings back memories of living in Canada.

BLaNkEtS of LoVe

I know that a lot of readers have been asked lately to contribute to worthwhile causes and you may think..."well here's another request" and this post is just that!   AnOtHeR ReQuEsT.
If you go to the BLaNkEtS of LoVe blog site you can read all about this heart touching initiative. I would like to organise a drive to gather a few of these tiny blankets and give them to the regional hospital near my home. Please support it if you can but if you are over committed at present that's OK too. I will try for this "drive" bi-annually, so perhaps next time you will be in a position to do so. I really appreciate you even thinking about giving and I have my fingers crossed that I receive an email or two.
The directions for making the quilts are on the blog and remember its a GrEaT way of using scraps and left overs. These quilts are really light weight so the postage costs will be minimal. Anyway, I hope you have the time to visit the blog.
I have attached a countdown to the sidebar showing how days are left if you want to participate.

The FiNiSHed list I mean. How good does that feel.! Well I made the deadline. Yep..it's ALL finished. Stitched the binding on last night and now my daughter can take it back home with her this weekend and give it to her friend.
Thought I'd share a pic.

Home Alone...Day # 3

Applique
Well, today was my LaSt "sew-at-any-time-you-like" day. It was productive and enjoyable...although I am quite tired and so I'm not too unhappy to have hubby home tomorrow. Finished off another christmas runner (well almost) and this one is for mE... then cut out one and 1/2 stitched another "blanket of love" donation. After this posting I'll give you all a rest from my ramblings....enjoy your weekend...enjoy your sewing!
Caramel please...

Home Alone...Day #2

Last night I didn't finish the quilting but I did manage to do most of it & tape out the straight stitching lines. It was quite late by the time I finished so off I went to bed. Then this morning I did finish all the quilting..all that's left now is the binding (which I WiLL stitch on tonight) ...then only hand sewing & attach label. I was worried about making the deadline to give it to my daughter this weekend but I'm on track...phew !!!

Just to have a break I decided to make a quilt for the "Blankets of Love" drive that I am running. I only have the top done at this stage but this project will come together VERY quickly. I also planned another, using up left overs, which is always a good thing.

Then this afternoon a courier delivered a quilt book I ordered, so perhaps I'll have a break after dinner and give it the once over.
Anyway, I enjoyed another successful day.

My sewing room is getting quite a workout with hubby away!

7 THiNgS about mE

My blogger friend Lynda over at http://quiltsbylynda.blogspot.com/ asked me to tell you 7 things about myself...so here goes.
1.  I am married to a Canadian and we lived in N.B. for 2 years.
2.  I have 3 children - 1 boy and 2 girls (all adults).
3.  My chosen sport to play is Tennis.
4.  I love all things caramel....Yum !!
5.  One of my favourite little flowers is the "Freezia" ...childhood memories flood in when I see them.
6.  I don't mind the taste of Kahlua....also YuM !!
7.  I'm looking forward to becomming a GrAnDmOtHeR one day...hint hint !

Now I'll ask 7 other bloggers to do the same.
I send off an email to you all.
They can then attach the badge of "Versatile Blogger" on their sidebar.

Home Alone...Day # 1

Hubby left at 5.30am so I also had an early start...although NOT at 5.30am ExACtLy.. but at a more respectable time..but my day got off to a good start. Firstly ironed up round #3 of sahrobin. Hope I'm going in the right direction with this one !?!.
Next... got started on finishing a baby gift. It was already finished being appliqued..so I joined the backing, added batting and then pinned the sandwich.

Round 3

Appliqued

Love this print!

pinned

Ready to quilt.
Well into the quilting process now...so should get it finishd tonight. Or I hope to.

Xmas- Sept swap.
And then the postie arrived with this wonderful Chrissy block from Mary in Canada today.
Wow...what a day!

While Hubby's Away... the Quilter Can Play !

It's not that I like him being away or anything.....but there's ALwaYs an UP side to everything!
While he is off with his golfing mates for 3 days...I can go do LoTsA sewing.... NO cooking (or not much anyway) and definitely NO housework (well ...only the essentials) but you get the idea. How GOOD is that ! !
I might even live life on the wild side and NOT answer the phone !!!  Go Girl !
Hubby won't have service so that's not an issue.... but then again my children might call ...so.....??

Anyway..... I thought I might be a nuisance and write a nightly post about what I've accomplished!
I can do that at any time too !  Life is just gettin' better!

So visit again tonight to see the first day's accomplishments.
Hope you enjoy a peek-a-boo into my "cubbyhole" day.

Stay at Home Robin

Next update....block #2
Still wondering whether this wall hanging will look OK when I'm finished...
It might have to hang in the closet if it doesn't....haha

Stay at Home Robin

This is a pic of my 1st block.
I am completely in the dark as to where this project is going.
All I know is, it will eventually end up as a wall hanging....
albeit months from now...but I trust it will work out OK.
I think I'll cross my fingers nevertheless!  :)

From Canada with love

A very merry Christmas will be had in this household because of all the wonderful Xmas blocks I am receiving. This one is from Debbie and it's FaNtAsTiC... so a "thank you" is in order.
Her block was delivered today!  Very ExCiTinG!!!
The colours are just perfect because it will have a red border.
Yippee....

Sunshine Award

I received an email nominating me for the Sunshine Award.
"THaNk YoU" to my quilter friend Leona over at Leona's Quilting Adventure http://oneygirl-myquiltingadventure.blogspot.com/  for thinking of me.

When you are awarded this honour you are to pass it along to the blogs you enjoy reading. It was a very hard decision to pick between blogs (because all the blogs have something to share & I enjoy them ALL) but I did manage to settle on a few.
Now they will have the hard choice to nominate blogs for their "Sunshine Award".

I will email each blogger to let them know and I hope they enjoy their nominations.
PS: I didn't give it to a blog that had just received another award...otherwise its overload!
Keep on quilting, piecing, stitching and BLoGGiNg!

Sept Swap with Debbie

Debbie emailed me to say her block had arrived...
...and she liked it....
woo hoo !!
Debbie wished for any block in pink and brown...so I thought this block would be nice. I hope it fits in with her plans and makes a new home with her in Canada.

Fantastic GiveAway

Perhaps I shouldn't be passing this on...eliminates the competition if I don't...but anyway I'll do the RiGhT thing....
Visit http://quilttimes.blogspot.com/ and enter Sue's give away...it's GrEaT !!
Good Luck but I'm keeping my fingers crossed...perhaps even my toes !

Santa's On His Way

Yes.It's finished and the name says it all....
Hey you might laugh at the thought...but did you know that Christmas is only 14 weeks away. A little scary really....but .... with another project moved from "under construction" to the "finished list" I don't feel to bad.
Well that thought didn't last long.....
Is it me or does the under construction pile seem to be growing???  Projects seem to materialise from thin air...or are elves creeping into my sewing room??? ....
umm... just a thought !!

Oh well...here is a pic of "Santa's on His Way". Hope my daughter likes it.

FNSI of UFOs

Once again FNSI was on and I managed to make a dint in the UFOs one seems to accumulate. Firstly hubby & I had home made pizza for dinner...yum!...then I headed upstairs while he channel surfed and watched sport.

First on the agenda .... finish the face & sew on buttons on "Mums Sewing Room"...ticked off the list finally!!....

Next ...Add backing, quilt and bind Xmas wall hanging for # 2 daughter.
All ready for hand stitching the binding over the weekend outside in the sunshine !?!

Finally I tackled a job that is extremely easy but nevertheless extremely important.... winding bobbins... I always like to have a few on hand so I don't have to stop in the middle of stitching.... now I'm ready to GO...gO...Go !!!

All in all I had another great FNSI.....
very successful... and very rewarding...
I hope you all did too!
I juSt LOVE theSe niGhts!

A Friend in Need

I read today on my new friends blog, the story about her sister. I felt sad when I read my friends words but had my spirits lifted when I knew I could help. She had asked for the donation of blocks to make her sister a comfort quilt....so of course I jumped right in and these are the two blocks I will be sending off to her.
I hope she can use them and it helps in making her sisters journey a little easier.... and warmer... with the knowledge that she has new friends thinking of her.
Please accept these with my greatest of pleasure and I wish your sister all the very best !

Sept Swap with Tarnyia

How GrEAt is this block which I received from new member Tarnyia.
I just LOVE it!
Can't wait to use it because it will go very nicely with Sue's wacky Christmas tree....both appliqued.

The block I sent off to Tarnyia pales in comparison....I think.
Tarnyia wished for a red star block with aqua background.

My block was posted off to Canada earlier this month to start a new life there with Mary. Mary wished for a star block in traditional christmas colours....so I decided on a red & green star with xmas trees in the background .

Mary just emailed me and said she had received it.
The block fits in with her plans and she's happy.....phew!!

The Dreaded UFO list

Isn't it nice to cross one project off the "under construction" list (UFO) and place it on the "finished" list.  It's kinda like balancing the books !?!   Take from one side and deposit it on the other...and as long as the "finished" list keeps growing then the other side doesn't REALLY matter...does it?
NOOOO ... not to me anyway....and as long as my room can accomodate all projects I'm HaPpY !

I managed to finish off Katinka's Bling over the weekend and I'm very pleased with it. It appears to work well but the final test will come when my DD1 loads it up with bling. Keep your fingers crossed xx.
